Gary J. Styers, Sr., 77, of Blanchard, passed away Sunday, August 4, 2019 at his home.
He was born in Van Buren, New York on June 4, 1942, the son of the late Forrest and Zetta Shady Styers.
Gary was a 1960 graduate of Lock Haven High School.
He was a Veteran of the United States Army and United States Army Reserves, being honorably discharged following 30 years of service.
On August 22, 1964, he married the former Deanna Gaines, who survives.
Gary was employed by Zimmerman Brothers, Turner Motors and Haven Homes before working for Kuhn Brothers Trucking of Ohio until his retirement.
He was a life member of the Beech Creek American Legion and had coached baseball for the Beech Creek Little League, Junior League and Legion teams.
Gary had a love for the game of baseball and was an avid New York Yankee fan. He also enjoyed NASCAR and going fishing from his boat.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children, Pamela (Andy) Styers of Lock Haven, Debra Heck of Blanchard, Gary Styers, Jr. of Howard, Michael (Jodi) Styers of Blanchard, and Susan (Ward) Butler of Blanchard; four brothers, Richard (Linda) of Lock Haven, Carl (Debra) of Lock Haven, Francis (Jean) of Castanea, and Forrest (Pat) of Lock Haven; ten grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Erlene Stephens; a brother, Earl Styers; and a granddaughter.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
