Arthur W. Nonemaker, Sr., 73, of Slate Run passed away Friday, September 18, 2020, surrounded by his family, at his home.
Born June 2, 1947 in Lock Haven, he was the son of the late Robert and Margaret (Smart) Nonemaker.
Ted was a 1966 graduate of Lock Haven High School and was then drafted into the United States Army.
Before leaving for training at Ft. Knox, he married his love, the former Sharon Yocum, on December 24, 1966.
After attending combat engineer schooling, he spent one year in Vietnam. Upon returning to Ft. Hood, he served on riot control and burial detail. Ted was Honorably Discharged in 1968, having earned the rank of E4.
Ted was employed in the Fabric Shipping Department at Woolrich Woolen Mills for 38 years, retiring in 2009.
He attended Cedar Run Baptist Church.
Ted was a lifetime member of the Beech Creek American Legion and a past member of Castanea Fire Hall.
Before moving to Slate Run, he was an active member of Dunnstown Fire Company, serving as both a firefighter and EMT.
Ted enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter.
He was a wonderful and caring husband, father and grandfather- loving every moment he spent with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife of 54 years, Sharon L. Nonemaker, he is survived by his son, Arthur W. (Cicily) Nonemaker, Jr. of Jersey Shore; his daughter, Becky J. (Curt) Barner of Lock Haven; five grandchildren: Amanda Barner of Pittsburgh, Cody Barner of San Diego, Kyle Barner, stationed at Scott Air Force Base, IL and Riley and Luke Nonemaker, both of Jersey Shore; two sisters: Joan (William) Moore of Jersey Mills and Mary Ann Windle of Montana; his brother-in-law, Bud (Dana) Yocum of Flemington; and his Yorkie, Daisy.
Per his wishes, there will be no service.
Memorial contributions in Ted’s name may be made to either the Clinton County Veterans Affairs or Clinton County SPCA though the funeral home.
