Catherine Shadle Obituary
Catherine L. Shadle, 98, of Lock Haven, passed away Sunday, October 11, 2020 at Susque-View Home, Lock Haven.
She was born in Lock Haven on September 17, 1922, the daughter of the late Gabriel and Elsie Eck Dutton.
Catherine was a 1941 graduate of Immaculate Conception High School, Lock Haven.
On June 22, 1940 in Winchester, VA she married John J. Shadle, who preceded her in death after 56 years of marriage.
Catherine was employed as a shirt presser at the former Lock Haven Laundry from 1952 to 1965 and as a custodian at the Clinton County Housing Authority from 1972 until her retirement in 1985.
She was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Parish attending St. Agnes Catholic Church. She was faithful to her church, serving in the choir, the Rosary Altar Society and the Catholic Daughters of America where she was honored in 1996 as Catholic Daughter of the Year. She was also very active in the Emmaus Community.
Catherine loved playing bingo and doing other activities at home. In her earlier years, she would walk five miles a day with her friends.
She is survived by two sons, John J. of Easton and Kenneth L. (Karen) of Mill Hall.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Jean Marie; two sons, Robert G. and James R.; seven brothers; and six sisters.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at 10:30 A.M. at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High Street, Flemington, PA 17745 with Rev. Father Joseph Orr Officiating.
Friends and family will be received for a viewing on Wednesday from 9 A.M. until the time of the service.
A committal service will follow at St. Agnes Catholic Cemetery, Lock Haven.
Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Susque-View Home Activities Fund or Holy Spirit Catholic Parish.
