Charles L. Hackenberg, 86, of Lock Haven passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at The Gatehouse of Divine Providence, Williamsport.
Born August 20, 1939 in Lock Haven, he was a son of the late Sylvester LeRoy and Goldie (Bower) Hackenberg.
On April 30, 1972, Charlie began his career at Jersey Shore Steel, where he was employed for 32 years before retiring on July 1, 2004.
He attended the First Baptist Church, Lock Haven.
Charlie was a member of the American Legion.
In his younger years, he was an avid bowler. Charlie enjoyed hunting on the mountain as well as camping on the mountain with his significant other, Carol Smith, and his dog, Hunter.
Surviving are his daughters, Joy M. Russell (Justin) and Jodie L. Courter Gibbs (Ken); grandchildren: Eddie Overdorf, Tyler Overdorf, Kyle Courter and Ellie Mae Gibbs; and five great grandchildren. He also leaves behind his significant other, Carol Smith; brothers: Glenn Hackenberg, Jerome (Susan) Hackenberg and Arlynn Hackenberg; many nieces and nephews; his former wife, Wilma Hackenberg; and his beloved dog, Hunter, who was very special and by his side until the very end.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Thelma Hackenberg and Ada Young and brother, Fred Hackenberg.
Services will be at the convenience of his family.
