It is with heavy hearts, the Keller and Bates families announce the passing of our dearly loved mother, Cleonice Bates, at the age of 101 years. Cleo passed peacefully at home.
Born June 8, 1923, in Lock Haven, she was the daughter of Anthony and Sanitella Caprio.
Cleo was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, having attended St. Agnes Elementary and graduating in 1941 from Immaculate Conception High School.
In 1946, she married Peter Bates. They celebrated 59 years of marriage before his passing in 2005.
Cleo was a beautiful woman, devoted wife and mother and devout Catholic.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 5 brothers and 4 sisters.
She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Keller (Roger) of Williamsport; son, Peter Bates, Jr. (Susie) of Lock Haven; 2 grandchildren, Dr. Carolyn Keller of Ithaca, NY and Paul Keller (Missy) in Williamsport; and 3 great grandchildren: Kirk, Felicity, and Camellia Keller all of Williamsport. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and many friends.
To honor Cleo's wishes, there will be no visitation or viewing. A private Catholic service will be at the convenience of the family. Interment will be at St. Agnes Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her husband.
