Clifford Hinton Obituary

Clifford “Dean” Hinton, 78, of Lock Haven, passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at UPMC Williamsport.
He was born in Lock Haven on August 28, 1942, the son of the late Clifford and Sara Seasholtz Hinton.
Dean was a 1960 graduate of Lock Haven High School and served in the Army National Guard until his honorable discharge in 1966.
On April 10, 1965, he married the former Linda Herr, who survives.
Dean was a member of the Flemington First Church of Christ.
After working at Hammermill Paper Company and the Ford Motor Company, he began his career in law enforcement on July 3, 1968 with the Lock Haven City Police Department retiring as Sargent after 30 years. But, in true Dean fashion, he could never fully retire - he continued to work at PDC Spas, Lock Haven University and most recently at Belles Spring Golf Course.
He enjoyed riding motorcycles and hunting camp. He especially enjoyed his time at Pop Pop’s Clan with his extended family in his younger years, and the Lucky 7 Camp and the Wallis Run Rod and Gun Club with his many lifelong friends.
Dean was an avid supporter of his grandson (and his grandsons’ friends) and could be seen at a baseball field any given day in the spring, summer and fall.
In addition to his wife, Linda, Dean is survived by a daughter, Deana Hinton Hill (fiancé, Todd Myers) and Deana’s son, Ryan Hill; a son-in-law, Donald Koehler; three brothers, Leonard (Kathy) Hinton, Kenneth (Linda) Hinton and Kurt (Tina) Hinton; a sister-in-law, Judy Garbrick; a brother and sister-in-law, John and Judie Herr; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Betsy Hinton Koehler; his parent-in-laws, George and Elinor Herr; two brother-in-laws, Bill Garbrick and David Herr, and a nephew, Matthew Hinton.
A Celebration of Dean’s life will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Flemington First Church of Christ.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High Street, Flemington, PA 17745.
