Dorothy L. Simonson, 94, of Lock Haven, passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
She was born on June 3, 1926 in West Pittston, Pa. to Harry and Helen Bartron Bryden.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Claude E. Simonson, her son Scott Simonson, a brother Kenneth Bryden and a sister, Lois Yeager. She is survived by a daughter, Jane (Joseph) Savrock of Lock Haven; a son, Robert Simonson of Morganton, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Robert Simonson, Jr., Jessica (William) Hallman, Danielle (John) Dane and Justin (Catherine) Savrock; and two great granddaughters, Evelyn and Audrey Hallman.
Dorothy graduated from West Pittston High School in 1944. In 1947, she married her husband, Claude, with whom she was married for 67 years until his death in 2014. They resided in West Pittston until relocating to Montoursville in 1972, where she was employed at the Russ Smith Ford Dealership of Williamsport before going to work for the Moratto and Lesante music store at the Lycoming Mall. She also served as a field representative for the American Heart Association.
Following retirement, Dorothy and Claude relocated to Tarpon Springs, Fla. where they resided for 20 years before returning to Pennsylvania in 2011.
Dorothy loved playing bingo, telling jokes and sending greeting cards to family and friends. She was an accomplished musician and played the organ for her church in Florida. Most of all, she adored the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great granddaughters.
The family will celebrate her life in a private ceremony.
