Garry Adams Obituary

Garry A. Adams of Avis Pa passed on August 02, 2022 in the Williamsport UPMC Hospital. Garry, born on January 03, 1946 in Lock Haven was the son of Leroy C and Elizabeth R (Pitcock) Adams. He was Preceded in death by both parents, as well as, brothers Leroy Jr and Lynn. He is survived by brothers, Larry of Meyersdale and Keith of Hyner and a sister Donna Crawford of Castanea. Also surviving are nephews: TJ (Melissa) Crawford of Colorado, Chad Crawford of Ohio, Curtis and Michael Adams of Avis; nieces: Brenda Mowery of Colorado, Carla (Kenny) Yandell of Mill Hall, Amber and Jesse Adams; as well as many cousins.
Garry was a graduate of the former Lock Haven High School (1964); a member of the First Church of Christ; a lifetime member of the Castanea Fire Company, where he was active in fund raising events. He was an avid Penn State football ( a season ticket holder for 40 years) and both Penn State and high school wrestling fan. In his younger days he enjoyed drag racing his beloved Cuda at Beaver Springs as well as area race tracks. He was employed at Bloomsburg Mills, Piper Aircraft, and retired in 2008 from the sporting goods department of Kmart.
Garry maintained a very large garden and canned most of his life, sharing the fruits of his labors with friends and family. He enjoyed cooking and baking and sharing his homemade breads, cakes, and cookies. He also hosted annual outdoor picnics for friends and family where all enjoyed good food and friendship.
May he Rest In Peace in a better place! He will dearly be missed by friends and family.
The family would like to recognize all those who helped with his care especially the staff at Williamsport UPMC Hospital and the ambulance association.
Donations may be made to the Castanea Fire Company.
There will be no services per Garry's wishes.
A Memorial Service will be held on September 10, 2022 at the Castanea Fire Hall Picnic Grounds.
Arrangements are under the direction of Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington.
