Janet Bowman Obituary
Janet M. Bowman, 84, of Lock Haven, passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at Geisinger Medical Center Danville, surrounded by her family.
Born November 6, 1938 in Curtain Narrows, Centre County, she was the daughter of the late Earl T. And Sarah Caldwell Barner.
Janet was a 1956 graduate of Bellefonte High School.
On May 16, 1960 in Winchester, VA, she married Emerson J. Bowman, Jr., who preceded her in death August 20, 1994.
Janet was employed at the former Centre Farm Bureau in Pleasant Gap and the Central Pennsylvania Gas Company in State College before she went to work for Woolrich Woolen Mills in Woolrich until her retirement.
Janet loved the outdoors, especially camping and fishing in her early years and watching the wildlife in her backyard in her later years.
She is survived by five children, Gloria (Rex) Nicholas of Utah, Aileen Oldenburg of Wickliff, Linda (Donald) Stewart of Lock Haven and Gary J. (Brenda Burnell) Bowman of Lock Haven; a sister, Connie Fetzer of Florida; a brother, Harold Barner of Bellefonte; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Sitnik and Virginia Schrack; and two brothers, Harry and Robert Barner.
Private services will be held at the convenience of her family.
