John Meyers Obituary
John William Meyers, Jr., 89, of Mill Hall, passed away Sunday, July 2, 2023 at Eagle Ridge Personal Care Home, Mill Hall.
Born March 20, 1934 in Unionville, John was the son of the late John W. Myers, Sr. and Pauline (Joseph) Barton Meyers Heltman.
Following graduation from Mill Hall High School, John married the love of his life, the former Phyllis Elaine Poorman, who preceded him in death in 2016 after 61 ½ years of marriage.
Following high school, John delivered milk for Johnstonbaugh's Dairy in Mill Hall before relocating to Cleveland for a short time where he worked for Ford Motor Company. After returning home, he worked at Piper Aircraft and Clinton Paper Company before retiring from Corning Glass.
John was an avid sports fan. He loved coaching little league baseball, following and attending wrestling matches and was especially a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State University football teams. He also enjoyed the outdoors, particularly hunting and fishing.
John is survived by a son, Timothy William (Penny) Meyers of Mill Hall; a daughter, Holly (Bill) Barrett of Mill Hall; a sister, Shirlene Walker Anderson of Mill Hall; six grandchildren: Timmy (Kristy) and Tommy (Tara) Meyers, Brad (Jamie) and Brian (Trish) Fox, Jordan (Sam) McGill, and Matt (Chrissy) Wise; and nine great-grandchildren: Riverlynn and Lennox Meyers, Sebastian and Lucy Meyers, Dylan and Riley Fox, McKenna and Emma Fox and Easton McGill.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Jane Collins.
Private services for John will be held at the convenience of his family.
