Joyce K. Clinch, 93, of Williamsport, PA, died on Wednesday night, October 14, 2020, at her residence in the Williamsport Home. She passed from this life in the loving presence of her daughter, Lynne Clinch Hopkins.
Joyce was born in Syracuse, New York, the daughter of Howard F. and Muriel Taft Knapp. The third child of four, she grew up surrounded by the love of parents, siblings, and a large extended family.
On September 30, 1945, she married Warren L. Clinch in Oneida, New York. Throughout her early adult years, she devoted herself to the crucial work of being a mother, wife, and homemaker. As her children grew, she took on a position as Secretary to the Principal at Oneida High School. After a long and happy career there, she became Executive Assistant at The Oneida Heater Company, where she worked alongside her husband. The two remained in Oneida until 1979, when they retired and moved to Florida. After his passing in 2013, she returned north to live near family.
She was a loyal member of the Methodist Church from the earliest childhood until the close of her days, and always faced even the most difficult of life’s challenges with an unshakable faith.
Surviving are one daughter and one son-in-law, Lynne C. and T. Marshall Hopkins of Montoursville, Pennsylvania; one son and one daughter-in-law, Jon H. and Wendy N. Clinch of Plymouth, Vermont; one brother, Gordon W. Knapp; four grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Clinch, by her daughter, Deborah Anne Clinch, and by two sisters, Shirley Knapp Harris and Marilyn Knapp Fish.
When asked how she hoped to be remembered, Clinch said, "I was a loving and faithful wife, and my children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren meant the world to me. I loved working in the church, and my faith in God was strong.”
