Lafirne Tasselli Obituary
Lafirne “Fern” N. Tasselli, 95, of Lock Haven passed away on January 25, 2021 at Haven Place, Lock Haven after an extended illness.
Born January 7, 1926, she was the oldest daughter of the late Maurice and Minnie (Bowersox) Orndorf.
Fern was a graduate of Lock Haven High School where during her senior year she participated in a war-related work release program at Piper Aircraft.
After graduation, she attended the Beebe Hospital School of Nursing in Lewis, Delaware as a Cadet Nurse.
On October 5, 1946 she married her loving and devoted husband, Vito J. Tasselli, upon his safe return from World War II.
After her marriage, she worked at Sears Roebuck as a teletype operator. She later retired from Economy Auto Parts as an office manager.
Fern was a person of many and varied interests including oil painting, reading, decorating, gardening, collecting baskets and doing most crafts.
She will perhaps be best remembered for her life-long interest in medicine and her “official” capacity as the family nurse where she dispensed both valuable knowledge and loving care.
Fern will also be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
In her retirement years, she and her husband enjoyed spending winters in Florida, returning to Pennsylvania in the early spring to spend time at her “Patch,” the family cabin.
Fern was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years and her two sisters, Beryl (Skip) Gundlach and Beverly Moore.
She leaves to celebrate her life her son, Stephen; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Richard Walizer; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Due to the present COVID-19 restrictions, a memorial service will be held at a future date.
