Obituary

Nancy Jean Armstrong, 88, of Peckville, passed away Saturday, August 19, 2023 at Eagle Valley Personal Care Home, Milesburg.

Born October 1, 1934 in Peckville, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Elizabeth Newton.

Nancy was a 1955 graduate of the Hahnemann School of Nursing and began her devoted career in nursing as one of the first ICU Registered Nurses in Lackawanna County. She spent the last several years of her career as an OB/Gyn nurse.

In 1957, at the Peckville United Methodist Church, she married Robert "Bob" Armstrong, who preceded her in death.

Nancy was a member of the Peckville United Methodist Church. She was an avid reader, especially enjoying history and biography books. She was never at a loss for words and enjoyed just talking to people especially if it involved reminiscing about the good old days. Beyond all, she was devoted to her family. She was thankful for the love and kindness shown by Emily, Taylor and Eric. She especially cherished the time she spent with her beloved Deborah, Mark and Adam.

She is survived by her son, Dr. Mark (Daria) Armstrong of Bellefonte; a brother, Eugene (Susan) Newton of Peckville; three grandchildren: Deborah (Devin Gondolfo), Mark and Adam Armstrong; six nephews, Gene (Becky) Newton, Eric Newton, and Bobby, Matt, Richie and David Armstrong; and her niece, Delores Beavers.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Eddie Armstrong.

A private Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 25, 2023 at the Robert E. Decker Funeral Home, 702 River Street, Peckville, PA 18452 with Nancy's nephew, Matt Armstrong, officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery, Scott Township.
