Nancy Ruth Aurand was called home by her Heavenly Father, Thursday, May 9, 2024, at Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College, surrounded by her family.
Born May 1, 1938, in Lock Haven, Nancy was the daughter of the late Robert K. and Ellen E. Rote, Sr.
She was a graduate of Lock Haven High School and obtained a business degree from the Williamsport School of Commerce.
Nancy was married to James R. Aurand, who preceded her in death on December 30, 1990.
Nancy worked as a secretary for several years at Hammermill Paper Company before her most important work began at home, attending to her children and grandchildren. She was a dedicated member of the Dunnstown United Methodist Church for 74 years, holding positions of financial secretary, choir director, church pianist, Sunday school teacher, and youth fellowship leader. She loved her church family and helped with several fund raisers including the making of chess pies, chicken bar-b-ques, and beef and noodle dinners. She loved cooking and baking and was known for her apple pies. Nancy was also known throughout the community as the secretary and treasurer of the Dunnstown Cemetery.
Nancy is survived by two children, Elizabeth A. (Morgan) Stantz and Craig R. (Michelle) Aurand; and four grandchildren, Dakota R. Stantz, Alexander J. Stantz, Christian J. Aurand, and Emily Kay Aurand.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Theodore W. Rote and Robert K. Rote, Jr.
She also leaves numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins whose lives she touched.
Funeral services will be private with Nancy being laid to rest at Swissdale Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at 11 A.M. at Dunnstown United Methodist Church, 59 Church Street, Lock Haven, PA 17745, with a luncheon
immediately following at the Dunnstown Fire Hall.
