Rebecca Smith Obituary

Rebecca Jane (Strouse) Smith
Becky Smith, 79 years of age, passed away at home surrounded by friends and family on Friday, January 30, 2026.
Born in Lock Haven on June 7, 1946, the daughter of the late Theodore R. "Ted" Strouse and Hazel "Leone" Sheasley Strouse, she was the fourth of their 5 children. Their family resided in McElhattan.
Becky graduated from Lock Haven High School in 1964 and, despite her vision challenges, graduated from The State Beauty School, Williamsport, in 1965.
Becky was of the Methodist faith.
She is survived by her daughter, Gina Fox and her significant other, Richard Wooding, of Lock Haven; a sister, Bonnie (Charlie) Grieco of Lenexa, KS and their children: Chuck, Mike and Mark; a sister, Carol E. Russo of Loganton (Albert -deceased); sister-in-law, Charlene Strouse (brother, Gary- deceased) of Detroit, MI and their children: Kathy, De-De, Gary, Ted and Tammy; and brother, Terry (Patricia) Weaver of Avis and their children: Scott, Anthony and Jessica.
Becky was preceded in death by Gina's father, James J. Smith, and her companion of 20+ years, Charles "Biff" Walizer. Additionally, she was predeceased by a niece, Nikki Russo.
In recent years, she enjoyed the company of her close friend and neighbor, Ron Calhoun, of McElhattan. They enjoyed mountain rides, watching Gunsmoke and listening to old music.
Also surviving Becky are her many wonderful friends including childhood friend, Amy White, who was more like a sister as well as the 4-H kids/adopted grandchildren (the Millers and Yoas' family of Lycoming County). Additionally, Becky is survived by some of Biff's family and his grandchildren, in particular Danielle Hook Strouse who always held a special place in Becky's heart.
Becky worked at Coppes and Thorson Superette in the 1960's before becoming a hairdresser. She was a cosmetologist for over 30 years, working at Diann's Beauty Shop, Carol Wert's Beauty Bar and Headlines by Kim and Company.
Becky was a lover of animals including her favorite horse, Junior, who was the training horse for many 4-H riders. She always said that working with children helps keep you young. Other dogs, cats and horses included: Barney, George, Charlee, Abby, Brad "Baby Girl", Packer, Cassy, Lucky, Sugar, Tazzi, Muscles, Patches, Shadow, D-Conn, Buttercup, Deuce, Daisy, Ginger, Sophie, Bear and Sundance.
Per Becky's wishes, there will be no services at this time. A Life Celebration will be held in the Spring.
The family would like to thank the multiple wonderful caregivers that helped Gina in keeping Becky at home.
"TEAM BECKY."
Current caregivers include: Deb Bacon, TT, Melinda, Geri, Andrea, and UPMC Hospice RN, Amber Evock Lusk. Past caregivers were: Mimi, Pam, Carissa, Jacinta, Jess and Maria. Together, all were instrumental in helping Becky stay independent and at home.
