Ruth A. Brown, 67, of Carlisle and formerly of Lock Haven, passed away on Friday, November 19, 2021, at Hershey Medical Center, surrounded by her two sons and other loved ones. Ruth fought strong and hard battling MDS over the last few months.
Born in Lock Haven on February 4, 1954, she was the daughter of the late George and Fannie (McKibben) Smith. She graduated from Lock Haven High School in 1972, then married the love of her life Clifton A. Brown Jr on November 25, 1972. In April 1973 they started their family with the birth of eldest son Clifton A. Brown, III and a year later added the youngest son, Philip L. Brown.
Ruth enlisted into the United States Air Force in 1980, beginning her 20-year service to our country, moving around the nation, even spending a month in Saudi Arabia with her son during the end of a deployment in support of Operation Desert Shield. She retired from the Air Force in 2000 as a Technical Sergeant.
Ruth had one of the biggest and kindest hearts putting the love for her family first and foremost. She dedicated every Saturday to spending time with her grandson, Connor. She enjoyed Friday nights at the bingo hall, and spending time in her yard gardening and listening to the sounds of her windchimes. Ruth also enjoyed shopping trips with her sisters, and trips to Myrtle Beach, SC, playing cards to win, while munching on her favorite sweet snacks. Ruth was a spiritual person having practiced various religions.
Ruth is survived by her two sons, Clifton A. (Yvonne) Brown, III. of Duncannon, and Philip Brown out of Virginia; her grandchildren, Connor and Colton Brown, and Calissa and Caitlyn Bowers, all of Duncannon; her sisters-in-law, Debra Reeder, Winona Johnson, Deena Brown, Joyce, Linda and Margie Smith; and many loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to Ruth's parents, she was preceded in death by the love of her life Clifton A. Brown Jr, her six brothers, Donald, Karl, Tuck, Gary, Eugene and Robert Smith; and three sisters, Janet Brungard, Georgiene Conklin and Cheryl Fuller.
