Sandra Scholl Obituary

Sandy Scholl (Sandy Fine, Sandra June Robb) was tragically lost earlier this Spring following a prolonged, complicated hospitalization at UPMC Williamsport, and one riddled with problematic medical "care." Despite the odds, she fought her way out of UPMC and into rehab at Williamsport Home. Regrettably, as the result of prior months' compounding and inadequate care, she ended up right back where she started after only a short time at rehab. Sandy passed away shortly after at UPMC/ICU.

Born in Lock Haven to Margaret C. Kramer and Lester W. Robb on March 17, 1939, she was 1 of 7 children. She would have turned 85 this St. Paddy's.

Sandy is survived by her daughter, Felicia Fine (CA) and her partner, James Corcoran; her dear friend and sister, Cathi Bower (Pine Creek); her dear friend and SIL, Judy Robb (LH), her brother, William Robb; her sisters, Mary-Jo Robb (Lancaster) and Michele Dugan (WI); her lifelong dearest friend, confidant, fellow photographer, and kindred spirit and love, Frank Giles (MA); dear friends Debra Crust and Karen Cherinka; and numerous other beloved friends, family and colleagues throughout the globe.

Sandy was proceeded in death by her parents, 2 sisters (Diana Dorey of LH and Bonita Xiarchos of Greece); her ex-husband, Richard Fine (SF); many beloved pets; and her wonderful, 60's-in-SF best friends.

Sandy graduated LHHS in '57 and attended Geisinger Nursing School, followed by Columbia; she received her B.S. in Nursing Education from Columbia University, beginning her nursing career in NYC at Cornell's teaching hospital. From that day onward, she dedicated her life to nursing and to always helping others and the communities around her. Sandy was a Pediatric RN in NYC, a Neurosurgical, Public Health, and Obstetrics RN for years in SF, a Surgical RN in WVA, and an ER RN at Divine in PA, all before settling back home in Lock Haven and spending 28yrs as an Emergency Room RN at LHH, where she retired in 2006.

She was a highly respected and dedicated medical professional who always held the *privacy* and care of her patients with the utmost regard and confidentiality. She was a living, breathing HIPAA advocate well before HIPAA...

Throughout her life, Sandy was an avid photographer, bibliophile, film buff and foodie who loved music, animals, and nature passionately. Two of her favorite hobbies were skiing and scuba diving. She was a very vocal political and civil rights activist, always championing for equality and peace wherever she lived or traveled. She was an independent, free-spirited, intelligent and unique soul who happily beat to her own drum. Sandy possessed a beautiful sense of humor, an unquenchable zest for life, and the soul and strength of a warrior. Her loss will forever be profound.

A private Memorial/Celebration of Life is being held by the family. Thoughts, condolences, cards, flowers, or donations are appreciated and may be directed to Walker Funeral Home in Lock Haven, PA, online (www.donaldwalkerfuneralhome.com), or by reaching out to Felicia or other family.

For those hoping to make a difference in the world, please foster or adopt a shelter dog or cat in need, plant a tree or two, support your local songwriters, or donate to a local museum or library. Any of the above are beautiful ways to honor Sandy's spirit, legacy, and passion for life.
