Shirley Barner, 93, of Mill Hall, passed away Sunday, December 17, 2023 at her home.
Born in Beech Creek on September 20, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Sarah Entler Muthler.
Following graduation from Lock Haven High School in 1949, Shirley worked at Renninger's Lumber Company before spending her career work as a Bank Teller for the former Central Counties Bank and Mellon Bank until her retirement.
On November 5, 1954, she married the love of her life, Ward Barner, who survives.
Shirley was very faithful throughout her entire life, attending Laurel Run United Methodist Church as a child before joining Salona United Methodist Church, where she remained a member until her passing.
Her greatest pride and joy was her family, whom she adored and loved the most. She especially cherished her time with her grandkids and great grandkids. She enjoyed baking and many desired for her famous chocolate chip cookies. Shirley was a kind person and was truly loved and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her husband, Ward, she is survived by her three sons, Gary (Regina) of Lock Haven, Terry (Esther) of Mill Hall and Barry (Carol) Barner of Mill Hall; two brothers, James Muthler of Lock Haven and William (Freda) Muthler of Williamsport; a sister, Martha Dolan of Blanchard; eight grandchildren: Jenn Ferrara, Kirsten, Matthew, Sarah and Terry Barner, Nichole Kirk and Chris Barner and Abby Bradley; twelve great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandsons and one great-great granddaugghter.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by two brothers, Don and Raymond Muthler; and two great grandsons, Matthew and Greyson Barner.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at 11 A.M. at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington, PA 17745 with Rev. Tom Jones officiating.
Friends and family will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Salona United Methodist Church.
