Vada Burkey Obituary
Vada Rue Burkey, 93, of Marsh Creek, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2023 at her home.
Born January 27, 1930 in Marsh Creek, she was the daughter of the late Leslie and Hazel S. Robb Heaton.
Vada was a graduate of Lock Haven High School.
On November 13, 1953, she married Thomas Dean Burkey, who preceded her in death in 1981.
She was a member of the former Beech Creek United Methodist Church and participated in the Mary Williams Bible Classes.
Vada was a proud homemaker, raising four boys on their farm. She enjoyed sewing and was an avid painter.
She is survived by her four sons, Charles (Diane) Burkey and Dean Burkey, both of Beech Creek, and William Burkey and David Burkey, both of Marsh Creek; a sister, Myrmetta Glossner of Beech Creek; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Cheryl Burkey.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, May 15, 2023 at 12 P.M. at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington, PA 17745 with Pastor William Livermore officiating. Burial committal service will follow at Hays-Fearon-Bossert Cemetery, Beech Creek.
Friends and family will be received at the funeral home on Monday from 11 A.M. until the start of the service.
Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
