Veronica Moriarty Obituary
Veronica Marie “Sis” Moriarty, 96, formerly of Lock Haven, passed away Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Elmcroft Senior Living Center, State College.
She was born May 15, 1923 the daughter of the late Frances DeSales and Ann Marie (McMann) Smith.
Sis was a 1941 graduate of Immaculate Conception High School and a 1945 graduate of Lock Haven State College where she obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education.
On November 24, 1949 at the Immaculate Conception Church of Lock Haven, she married Patrick R. Moriarty, who preceded her in death.
Sis was employed as an elementary teacher for Lock Haven School District and Keystone Central School District for 32 years. Following her retirement, she volunteered as a reading tutor at the Lock Haven Catholic School.
She was a member the Catholic Daughters of America and March of Dimes.
Sis is survived by three daughters, Ann Marie Moriarty of Silver Spring, MD, Sheila M. Kovalcin of Philipsburg, and Veronica P. (John Allen) Moriarty of Mill Spring, NC; seven grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Francis DeSales Smith, Jr. and E. Joseph Smith.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2019 at 11 A.M. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 310 W. Water St., Lock Haven, PA 17745 with Rev. Father Joseph Orr officiating. Private burial will take place at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Lock Haven.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Lock Haven Catholic School.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Moriarty Funeral Home & Crematory, 112 E. Church St., Lock Haven, PA 17745.
