Pfc. William Samuel Peck, Sr., 88, of Lock Haven went to join the comrades gone before him on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at Susque View Home, Lock Haven.
Born on March 1, 1933 in Lockport, he was a son of the late Charles Samuel and Blanche (Driver) Peck.
Bill proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. His service shaped his life, prompting him to become a devoted member of the Honor Guard with whom he participated in countless parades and American flag presentations as well as providing graveside Military Rites. Bill, along with members of the Honor Guard, was even privileged enough to present the Colors at the Little League World Series.
He was employed as a heavy equipment operator with Hoy and Hager before working for UGI Utilities until his retirement.
Bill was a life member of the VFW, having served as both Post Commander and District Commander. He was also a member of the Lock Haven American Legion where he served as Commander several times. Bill was a member of the 40&8.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Surviving are his children: Karen (Robert, Sr.) Wilkins, William "Billy" Peck, Jr., Kenny Peck and Michael (Debra) Peck, all of Lock Haven as well as Brenda Peck of Williamsport and David Peck of Jersey Shore; two sisters, Shirley Peck of Mill Hall and Frances Zerby of Castanea; eight grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and his best friend, Sgt. Terry Banfill.
Along with his parents, three brothers and six sisters, he was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Marie (Watkins) Peck in 1997 and a grandson, Irvin William Peck.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 29, 2021 from 2 until 4 P.M. at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington, Pa 17745. A funeral service will follow.
A graveside service with full Military Rites will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions in Bill's name may be made to the funeral home to help offset funeral expenses.
